Spring Break

Wednesday 3.24
Up and clearly not studying for my Shakespeare mid-term. I think I am physically incapable of studying - thank god I am able to get good grades in spite of this. But for real, fuck Shakespeare. Just when I'm beginning to appreciate everything he's written I have to take a goddamn test that forces everything to be memorized and made into nothing.

Thursday 3.25
The start of Spring Break. I didn't take a picture but this one sums up Thursday night and what was to come in the week that followed. I took my mid-term, had lunch with some of my teammates, went to my last class, went to practice, got dinner - then got two 30 racks and started break off properly.

Friday 3.26
Friday I was basically a waster. Waking up knowing that there wasn't anywhere I had to be or anything I had to have done was a beautiful thing. I just hung out all day - and when Dave got home that night he came over and we took it easy and watched Moon. There was nothing to take a picture of because nothing really happened so I just used this. Movie was awesome. We called it an early night because I had to be up at 5am for rugby.

Saturday 3.27
Woke up at 5am and got to Randall's Island for an 8am game and the start of the 4 Leaf Tournament. This day was long, very cold, and kind of miserable. We were so exhausted and we were freezing and we had to play 4 games of rugby without any subs because a lot of girls left for spring break and missed the tournament. It wound up being a great day but we were definitely happy when it was over. I got home at like 8pm and somehow was back at Hofstra at 9:30 to drink some beers and head to the bar to bring in my 21st with my teammates...

Saturday 3.27/Sunday 3.28
This was taken at probably 2am - empty pitchers and glasses everywhere. What a fucking night. I don't know how we made it out. Up at 5am, played 4 games of rugby, and then out at the bar till probably 3am. That's a rugby team, haha. So many toasts were made, so many shots were taken - and we had a New Years Eve style countdown at midnight. I love my teammates so much.

Sunday 3.28
On the actual day of my birthday my family came over - we ate a lot of food and cake and I played with my godson all day. At around 9:30 Johnny and Dave came over, followed by Eileen and Pam. We went to Pam's to pre-game and then walked to the bar where I was clearly the only one with a real ID (which was cool as hell) but they didn't give a shit since it was a Sunday night and the bar was dead. We had a couple of beers and then Pam's sister picked us up. We got mashed potatoes and had a big sing-a-long to Michael Jackson songs, followed by a sleepover at Pam's. It wasn't a wild night but we all definitely had a really good time and I couldn't think of a more fitting night for my 21st.

Monday 3.29
As if my liver wasn't hurting enough - Monday was spent recovering from Sunday and then Monday night was spent with Dave at Erin's house in Hempstead. We all got pretty drunk and it was a lot of fun. One of the rookies had to shoot the boot to show Dave what it's all about - I think he was pretty disgusted, haha.

Tuesday 3.30
Tuesday was spent recovering from Monday - and then at night Johnny picked me up. Got mashed potatoes with Dave and him, got Ralph's ices, and then hung out at Johnny's. We watched Jackass which was especially hilarious given the state that we were in. The picture above is of a box of crayons that was in Johnny's room. Dave said that it "smelt like childhood" and I thought it was the funniest thing in the world.

Wednesday 3.31
On Wednesday I went to my trainer in the morning and then went to my Grandma's because my cousins were in from Florida. I hung out with my grandparents and cousins for a while and then drove them to my house. I played basketball in the park with my cousin for a while and then we went out to eat with my parents. I stayed up with my cousin Paige, watching TV, catching up, and playing with photo booth.

Thursday 4.1
Woke up and hung out with the family, then took Ryan to the park again for some basketball. The weather was finally nice enough to spend the day outside. I was in such a good mood just because it wasn't raining for the first time in days. Later on my cousin Ryan wanted in on the photo booth fun so we played with it a little before they left for the airport. Thursday night me and my friends went to Applebees for half priced appetizers, and I ordered a beer :) Then we went to Phil's and had a good time talking and catching up.

Friday 4.2
Friday we were determined to make something good happen. We had the right idea with a pre-game at my house around 9, but then we walked to the bar and there was a $5 cover (at the fucking Blue Parrot) and they were carding and people were worried about getting in... so we just went back to my house, drank some more, and read everyone's birthday astrology crap out of the encyclopedia of birthdays hahaha. Random night, but good times for sure.

Saturday 4.3
Saturday I had to be in the city to give an interview for my internship. I took a 1:12 train in and was done with the interview at around 4:30. I walked to Washington Square Park to meet up with Jenn Pelly, who I hadn't seen in too long. The weather was beautiful and the park was packed. It was a great day to be in the city. I walked with Jenn to Webster Hall and then hopped on the Subway and headed to John's apartment. Grabbed a 6pack en route and then hung out in his apartment, drinking a few beers, reading Saul Bellow and watching soccer until he got home from work with dinner. We decided it would be best to wake up at home on Easter Sunday so after we ate we took a 10:37 train out of the city, which we came insanely close to missing. We were going to head home but decided to stop at McGorey's for a beer, which lead to us getting a ride to a bar in Seaford where all of my friends were, which lead to many many many tequila shots. I got to bed around 3am and passed outttt.

Sunday 4.4
Woke up at 9am, rough times. But I wasn't hungover at all - which was amazing. We had a quiet Easter and it was really nice to just spend the day with my family. Shirl cooked an incredible dinner, as always. That night Dave picked me up, we grabbed some beers and went to his house to watch opening night Sox v. Yankees. It felt so good to be watching baseball. Eileen, Helvick, Liz, Phil, and Kyle came eventually and after the Sox won (hell yeaaa) we had an unusually deep conversation. We talked about some heavy shit and it made me love my friends even more.

Now I'm watching the Mets game, wishing I was there, and wishing my friends were with me instead of on their way back to school. This break left me hungry for summer - I really can't wait. I don't know how I'm going to fake it through the rest of this semester but I'll figure it out - hopefully get decent grades... and then I'll be set for an amazing couple of months.
